Member-Based Roundtable Membership

Wednesday Morning Roundtable began in January of 2011, and continues to meet monthly on the third Wednesday of the month, unless otherwise scheduled, September - May. It is a program of the Auburn YMCA-WEIU, and the fee to participate is $75. The organizing committee invites individuals who represent sectors in business, non-profit, education and government organizations, to enjoy a presentation on civic & cultural topics and participate in a question & answer session. Current membership is 100+ participants.

The Roundtable programs are held at the Hilton Garden Inn. Coffee and pastries are served from 7:30 - 9AM and the program starts promptly at 8AM and ends promptly at 9AM. The format for the program is a brief introduction of the topic and speaker, followed by a 40-minute presentation, then 15 minutes of question & answer. Each program is led by a moderator. 

Much of the value of the Roundtable stems from the mix of participants and viewpoints. Members were considered on the following criteria:

• Brings a diverse viewpoint to the Roundtable

• Exhibits interest in a broad range of social and public topics

• Is a “doer” and will use and share information gained with the community

• Is a contributor to community endeavors

• Makes a commitment to regular attendance

Regular attendance is expected and critical to achieving the program’s objectives. It is important to not limit attendance to particular topics or speakers, as the greatest benefit often comes from presentations on topics that may not be familiar, or of perceived personal interest.
